България, както добре знаем страда от намаляване броя на младото и нарастване броя на застаряващото население. Докато през 1990 сме били приблизително 8,5 милиона сега сме към 7. Това ни довежда на мисълта, че масово българското население се изнася в чужбина, я по работа, я по любов :) та скоро в милата ни родина няма да останат и бездомните кучета, поне в столицата ни ще е чистичко.. :) не е шега работа.. топим се, топим се и накрая ще изчезнем! Нека да видим какво мислят чужденците по въпроса, въпреки че изобщо не ги интересува, но..

Въпросът - Bulgaria's Population Improving?

Отговор : Birth rate is very low and the population is old thats why we are decreasing in number. We are in demographic crisis :( i dont think there will be improvement soon.

Отговор : The population in Bulgaria is in decline, this is not due to a low birth rate but rather high level of immigration to elsewhere in Europe.

The main age group to immigrate are those of 21-30 years in age due to better working prospects elsewhere.
The trend will probably not alter in the near future, in fact the population decline may increase due to accession to the European Union.

Българската мафия?

Не се притеснявайте от родната ни мафия чужденци! Те се избиват само по между си, не закачат странични хора! Трябва да ви е страх от българските хотелиери, ресторантьори и таксиджии. Отговор : hey, i'm bulgarian and i can tell you that you shouldn't worry about the mafia at all, but rather the regular pocket pickers (mostly gypsies). if you follow this advice, it would save you so much trouble. trust me. DO NOT place valuebles in your pockets (i.e. money, watches, earings, rings, passports..etc) while riding in public transportation such as busses and trolleys. i say again, just DON'T do it, but rather place them in an inside hidden pocket if you have to carry them with you. the gypsies are VERY skilled and they can tell you're a tourist....by the time you blink they can take your wallet out of your pocket without you even know it. and in generall, just be aware of your bags (luggage) in crowded areas. but lol, you don't have to worry about the mafia...unless you are one of them and have some "business" there...otherwise enjoy your stay, it is a very beatiful country with very nice people :-)

Как да учим български език?

Има луди, които искат да учат трудния ни роден език и си мислят, че ще се справят без особенни проблеми. Е аз не мисля така, а вие? Нека видим какво се върти в главите на чужденците по този въпрос, който им зададох!

Въпросът - Learning Bulgarian?
Описание: ( I want to learn Bulgarian....whats the best way to go about it? Ive looked in local bookshops and cant find a book on it, but i guess i can find one online. or would it be better to find someone to teach me? is it a hard language to learn?....they use the cyrillic alphabet which i find confusing. Im fairly good at languages, i pick them up pretty quick....how long do you think it would take me to get reasonably good at Bulgarian? Ideally i'd like to be able to speak it fairly well (the basics) by summer (July). Obviously i dont expect to master it by then but a basic understanding would be great. what do you lot reckon? )

Отговор : Hi, Bulgarian is a pretty difficult language to learn mostly because of the grammar and pronunciation but when you finish learning it, it's a beautiful language to speak. Since as you pick up languages quick, I think that by July you'll be able to speak and write words and simple phrases! If you put your mind to it, you can do anything. :) The best way of learning it is through a Bulgarian speaker because most of the books on the language nowadays are quite confusing so the best way is through a teacher but if you can't find one, below are some links to Bulgarian books.

Отговор : Hmm well I think the sites the person above me metioned are pretty good. But I also have an idea for you. Why not try finding a pen pal online? This will allow you to put everything you've been learning into action. You'll have the chance to exchange e-mails with a native speaker who can point out mistakes in your letters. Additionally they can teach you cool things like slang that you would never be able to learn in a classroom. Plus, you'd be doing them a favor if they want you to teach them English. Believe me, I've done this with both Spanish and Portuguese (two languages that I've been learning) and it has helped tremendously. I have a penpal from Brazil (for Portuguese) and another from Mexico (for Spanish) and I've become pretty good friends with both of them. Well, if you would like me to send you a really good website that doesn't cost anything (because some of them are rip-offs that make you pay) just send me an email or somethin' and I'll help you out.

Отговор : Bulgarian is easier to learn for a native English speaker than other related languages because it doesn't have much of a case system. The Cyrillic alphabet is also easy as it is basically like ours, with characters for vowels as well as consonants, printed rather than cursive and having the same form regardless of where they are in a word. It also has a form for "the", like English has.
I reckon you could knock it off in a few months, well enough to read important signs, order food and make hotel and travel arrangements at least.

Отговор : Well start by going to a night class, just to learn the basics at first. Then try going for a slightly more advanced class. At some point actually go and visit bulgaria because hearing and speaking (and reading) the language everyday really helps you to learn new words and phrases. Be warned, it is a hard language to learn.

Стават ли българките добри съпруги?

Попитахме чужденците: Стават ли българките добри съпруги? Еми стават, как няма да стават, само че за по няколко години. След това търсят други мъже за да им станат добри съпруги.. :) Сега не е като едно време, където са се женели и заедно до гроб. Вече всяка жена се знае правата и ги използва срещу мъжа. От там идва и цялата конфронтация. Все пак ние си ги обичаме и не ги даваме на никой, даже и на богатите и просперирали чужденци! А и те не се дават лесно..

Отговор : I have a lot of Bulgarian friends and dated a couple of them too. I, myself, am Maltese - Canadian. Judging by my good friends they make as good of a wife as any really. Very domestic yet independant, smart women. Beautiful too.

If you're asking that because you're going to marry a Bulgarian and you're not sure if she'll be a "good wife", you have to ask yourself what's a good wife (for you), what you expect from this person and what you want to give. There is no rule for being good or bad :)

Какво мислите за българските медици от Либия?

Все пак това, което виждам в отговорите на чужденците ме зарадва до някъде! Искам да кажа, че всички обвиняват лошата хигиена в болницата за инцидента и не поставят под съмнение невинно обвинените ни съграждани. Жалко, жалко е че лежаха толкова много години в затвора в Либия без да са били виновни за нищо. И срамота, че трябваше Франция да им помогне, а не родината ни.

Отговор : I live in Bulgaria so I do know a little about this case. They were accused of killing hundreds of children by giving them the aids virus. This was to cover up the terrible conditions of their dirty hospitals. They have now all been released and are safely back in Bulgaria after spending years on death row in Libya.

Отговор : Micheal is right. Unfortunately, many countries in the world lack the knowledge, training and supplies to properly care for their people. Many innocent people in Africa were infected because the 'hospitals' had to re-use syringes and didn't have proper sterilization equipment. This went on for 10 + years and now look at the HIV rate in African countries, while they try to blame prostitution, many were infected getting immunizations and by having blood drawn, etc, etc. It is quite sad.

I know that Bulgaria was once part of the Byzantine Empire and that around the time that Pliska became the capital was the 1st Bulgarian Empire.
Byzantines spreading Christianity around like wildfire.
Then they fought for Constantinople.
Then they struggled continually against Byzantine rule.
Then the Normans came and the Turks which weakened Byzantine control. That led to Bulgaria becoming part of the Ottoman Empire (huge Muslim influence) but the Ottoman Empire fell after many revolts and i think Bulgaria and Russia teamed up for the Russo-Turkish War.
I know after that were some Balkan Wars ( i think with Greece).
Then after WWII Bulgaria kinda split from Russia more so.
I know its kinda choppy but thats all I can remember about Bulgaria.

I've read books that involve a little bit of medieval Bulgarian history and culture (under Ottoman empire), and I found it very interesting.

I do know they are one of the first regions to have a written script and long before mesopotamia as evidenced in the vinca culture that inhabited that region. I am also familiar with the Thracians and their interesting language, unfortunately not much is still known about it with the exception of some personal names and toponyms.

Отговор : First Bulgaria existed in Asia, but was attacked by Mongolian tribes and had to move somewhere else. They moved on the land that they are now, but there were already other people there - the Slavs. The Slavs told them if they could help them defeat the Byzantines because the two nations often fought against each other for land, that if they help them they will gather in one. The Bulgarians accepted the proposal and the Slavs and Bulgarians gathered together in one and created Bulgaria again in year 681. Bulgaria and the Byzantine Empire fought against each other for very long. Later Bulgaria was under Byzantine slavery but for not too long. Many years after that when The Byzantine Empire no longer existed came the Ottoman Empire and in 1396 conquered the whole Balkan Peninsula. The slavery continued 500 years, but Bulgaria was finally free in 1878 with the help of the Russians in the Russo-Turkish War. After that came the communism, in 1989 Bulgaria was no longer a communist country. This is a very very short version of mine about the Bulgarian history =]

Отговор : I'm not Bulgarian, but it sounds like you're trying to warn people that if they encounter one, watch out, she might use you. I could make a random nationality and personality about anyone, for example (just RANDOM) I could tell someone I know a greedy Dutch. I may be trying to give the impression that many or all Dutch are greedy. So if that is what you are trying to do, I would appreciate it if you could not. Thanks :) By the way, I'm not convinced at all that many, most, or all Bulgarian women like to use people. This was just one of your encounters.

Кой е Азис?

Реших да попитам чужденците: "Кой е Азис?". Явно тази персона е известна само в българските чалга/гей общности, но не и навън, защото единственият отговор, който получих беше копнат от някакъв сайт за "Българска гей организация!". Azis is singer known for, among other things, his atypical gender expression and his flamboyant persona. His real name is Vasil Troyanov Boyanov. Azis has recorded and performed many songs with some of the most popular Bulgarian pop-folk singers. He began his political career in 2005 as a member of the Evroroma political party and ran in the general elections campaign in the summer of 2005, but didn't receive enough votes to become a member of Parliament.

On 01 October 2006, Azis married his husband Niki Kitaetsa. Their marriage is not legally recognized given the laws of Bulgaria.

Azis appeared on the VIP Brother 2 version of Big Brother Bulgaria alongside Niki Kitaetsa. Azis left the house voluntarily after nineteen days.

On 05 August 2007 Azis became a father. His newborn daughter is named Raya. Raya was conceived via artificial insemination; the baby's mother is Azis' life-long friend Gala.

Защо са спасени българските евреи по време на ВСВ?

Хмм.. учудих се, че има хора, които все пак знаят какво е направила държавата ни за еврейския народ през Втората световна война! Учуди ме също и това, че самите чужденци знаят, че на децата им не се преподава цялата истина за историята, а също съм много радостен, че те са против това ограничаване в знанията! Въпросът - Why did Bulgaria's Jewish population survive WW2?
Описание - ( The Jewish populations of only 3 European countries survived the war intact, including Bulgaria's. This is despite Bulgaria being an Axis power. I know that when Hitler restored Bulgarian land lost during WW1, the czar (Boris III?) caved to demands that he deport the Jewish populations there. When the Nazis demanded the deportation of Bulgarian Jews the czar signed the papers but recinded partly due to a Christian mystic (maybe) and partly due to the fact that the deportation was highly unpopular. My question is: why, when almost every other country in Europe deported their Jews (sometimes happily), was it such an unpopular decision in Bulgaria? )

Отговор : Funny to come upon this question, I am going to Bulgaria in two days.
The reason Bulgaria's Jews survived the war is because the Jews were supported by the population. The government did not want to make any waves so they made a deal with the Germans, they would hand over the Jews from the lands they occupied in Macedonia and Greece in the amount that was equal to their Jewish population. They were about 11,000 people short, so they had to deport 11,000 of their own Jews to make the number what they said it would be. Another part of the deal they made with the Germans was that they would imprison the rest of their Jews in camps. This was done, but after the war they were released. This is how the Jews of Bulgaria were largely saved from the Holocaust.
